Tens of thousands of users were affected on Thursday as several major platforms, including Spotify and Discord, went down following an outage at Google Cloud, a division of Alphabet Inc.
Google acknowledged on its status page that several of its services were experiencing varying degrees of disruption.
“Our engineers are continuing to mitigate the issue and we have confirmation that the issue is recovered in some locations,” Google Cloud said.
The company stated that it could not provide an estimated time for full resolution of the issue.
According to outage tracking site Downdetector, over 10,000 incidents were reported for Google Cloud, and more than 44,000 users experienced issues with Spotify around 2:46 p.m. ET in the U.S.
Additionally, users reported over 4,000 incidents each on Google Meet and the Google search engine, while Discord saw more than 8,000 reports of service disruption.
