The first transshipment vessel to call at the deep seaport’s container terminal, the Rimbaud, has arrived, according to Lekki Deep Seaport management.
The CMA CGM shipping company’s vessel, according to a port statement, landed at the terminal on Thursday.
According to the statement, the ship carried goods from CMA CGM and Maersk, two of the biggest container shipping companies in the world.
The statement also revealed that the vessel has a nominal container handling capacity of 6,900 TEUs and was transporting 411 twenty-foot equivalent units of transshipment cargo.
“The vessel, which arrived at approximately 1.00 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2023, contains cargo from two of the world’s largest container shipping lines, CMA CGM and Maersk,” according to the statement.
“The service left from the Far East and traveled via Shanghai, Ningbo, Shekou, Nansha, TanjungPelpas, and Singapore before landing in Kribi, Cameroon, this afternoon,” it added.
