Fidelity Bank names veteran banker Ososuakpor as non-executive director

Fidelity Bank Plc has appointed seasoned banking professional Jonathan Oniovosa Ososuakpor as a Non-Executive Director on its board.

The appointment was announced in a statement signed by the bank’s Company Secretary, Ezinwa Unuigboje.

According to the statement, the appointment became effective on May 22, 2026, after receiving approval from the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Fidelity Bank said the appointment had been approved by the Central Bank of Nigeria, adding that the relevant regulatory authorities had also been duly notified.

“The Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Jonathan Oniovosa Ososuakpor as a Non-Executive Director of Fidelity Bank Plc with effect from May 22, 2026,” the statement read.

“The appointment has been approved by the Central Bank of Nigeria and notice of same communicated to the Securities and Exchange Commission, Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation and Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria.”

Fidelity Bank said the appointment had been approved by the Central Bank of Nigeria, adding that the relevant regulatory authorities had also been duly notified.

Dr. Ososuakpor brings over four decades of experience in the financial services industry, with expertise spanning credit and marketing, retail banking, consumer and commercial banking, public sector banking, operations, and risk management.

He commenced his banking career in 1983 with Union Bank of Nigeria and went on to hold various roles at former Gateway Bank, Oceanic Bank, Ecobank Nigeria, and former Intercontinental Bank, now part of Access Bank Plc.

Prior to his retirement in July 2025, he served as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of AMJU Unique Microfinance Bank Limited, a position he held from 2012.

Beyond his banking career, Dr. Ososuakpor has served in several leadership and board roles across the financial and corporate sectors.

He was Chairman of Universal Finance Consult & Investment Limited from 2007 to 2017 and later chaired V-Capital Consulting Limited between 2015 and 2025, contributing to strategic leadership and corporate governance across both organisations.

He currently serves as Chairman of Top Rank Oil Services Limited, an engineering services company operating within Nigeria’s oil and gas industry as well as across public and private sector engagements.

Dr. Ososuakpor holds a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Banking and Finance from the University of Benin.

He also obtained a Master of Science and a Doctorate degree in Economics from Delta State University, in addition to a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Bangor University.
