FAAN to restructure workforce in ‘Right-Placement’ initiative

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has announced a reorganization plan that may affect some employees.

The initiative, described as a “right-placement” exercise, was disclosed in a statement on Sunday.

The move is understood to be an intervention in long-standing internal grievances among staff, which stem from alleged unfair placement practices by a previous administration.

In its statement, FAAN assured employees of its commitment to addressing these issues with professionalism, transparency, and strict adherence to statutory standards in all human-resource and administrative procedures.

In the statement, signed by Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection Henry Agbebire, FAAN emphasized that its HR processes for recruitment, placement, and progression are bound by regulations promoting fairness, competence, and efficiency.

Agbebire also noted that Managing Director Olubunmi Kuku has mandated an internal review to enhance clarity and ensure consistent policy application across the authority.

According to the statement, the restructuring will likely affect a significant number of staff from critical units, primarily the Fire Service and Aviation Security personnel.

Agbebire, in his statement, however, said, “This review is aimed at strengthening clarity, ensuring uniform application of policies, and reinforcing confidence in the systems that govern staff progression. It will also enable management to address any gaps and improve existing structures where necessary.

“FAAN reiterates that no employee is compelled to alter or suppress their qualifications at any point in our recruitment process. All engagement procedures are based on the advertised positions, their requirements at the time, and the voluntary submissions of applicants.

“Where subsequent policy adjustments or reviews are required, FAAN ensures such matters are handled responsibly and in accordance with public service standards.”
