Ethiopia Airlines pays right’s violation sanction fee to Nigeria – NCAA

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority has confirmed that Ethiopian Airlines has fully paid the sanction fees imposed on it earlier this year for various consumer protection-related violations.

The Director of Public Affairs & Consumer Protection at the NCAA, Michael Achimugu, made the announcement via his official X account on Monday.

Achimugu stated that with this payment, all three international airlines sanctioned by the Authority in 2025 have now completely complied with the directives.

He further explained that the sanctions were issued not as punishment but as a corrective measure, intended to improve service quality and ensure that airlines operating in Nigeria strictly adhere to established consumer protection standards.

Reaffirming the agency’s regulatory stance, the NCAA boss emphasized the non-punitive intent of the actions, stating: “The sanctions are intended to help improve the services of the operators and not to punish them.”

He concluded by stressing that the Authority remains steadfast in its mandate to safeguard the rights and interests of all stakeholders in the aviation industry, including both passengers and operators.

The NCAA had sanctioned the three international airlines earlier this year for various infractions bordering on poor customer service and violation of passenger rights.
