Twitter CEO Elon Musk on Thursday declared that he would introduce “light mode” to X, the app formerly known as Twitter.
“This platform will soon only have ‘dark mode.’ Musk tweeted. “It is better in every way.”
Over time, the dark mode has gained enormous popularity. In contrast to light mode, which is typically the default online and has a white background with dark text, many users prefer having a dark backdrop with light text.
In dark mode, some users find it easier to read. Studies have also shown that, although it depends on other aspects as well, using a device in dark mode can help it last longer between charges.
Dark mode isn’t the only option, though. Still, a large number of consumers favour the light setting.
For some disabled users, the dark mode also causes accessibility problems. These users took the effort to inform Musk that restricting users to dark mode was a bad idea.
