A Dutch organisation served X, formerly known as Twitter, with a subpoena on Wednesday in a move that might eventually result in a class action lawsuit over the alleged misuse of user data.
According to the Stichting Data Bescherming Nederland, it plans to seek compensation for persons whose data was illegally collected and sold improperly between 2013 and 2021.
At Rotterdam District Court, it issued a subpoena ordering X to appear on January 3.
Judges must decide if X has a case to answer, whether a specific group of individuals is impacted, and, if so, whether SDBN is authorised to speak on their behalf.
