Dangote hails Tinubu’s FX policy, subsidy removal despite $3bn loss

The chairman of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has hailed the fuel subsidy removal by President Bola Tinubu and the elimination of multiple foreign exchange rates.

 

Tinubu, during his Inaugural speech on May 28, had declared the end of fuel subsidy and a unified exchange rate syste

 

The Tinubu-led administration has since begun gradual implementation of these policies causing a hike in the price of petroleum products and a dip in the value of the nair

 

On Thursday last week, Dangote reportedly lost $3.12 billion, according to the Forbes Real-time Global Billionaires Ranking, which may have been occasioned by the recent floating of the nair

 

But the business mogul, who visited the president on Monday, together with his friend and billionaire, Bill Gates, said Tinubu’s policies will be better for everyon

 

Arise TV reported that Dangote explained that he visited Aso Villa with the co-chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, to inform him of what they plan to do in Nigeri

 

He said, “All is great and things are going well and we also congratulated the president on the removal of subsid

 

“I think he is doing a great job. I expect that it’s going to be better for everybody. There will be more money now to put into education, health, infrastructure, and other areas and our role is to help support him to make sure he achieves his visio

 

“Our visit was a courtesy call. Bill Gates and I came in to congratulate the president for his successful election and also to brief him on what Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Aliko Dangote Foundation have been doing in Nigeria

 

“And also to show our commitment to do more and to help Nigerians so that our health sector will be better for everyon
