OpenAI, the company behind the artificial intelligence chatbot, ChatGPT, said on Thursday that it would establish a presence in Dublin.
It is the third office for the business. Its San Francisco headquarters are where its London office, which was expected to open in June, will be located.
Although OpenAI Chief Strategy Officer Jason Kwon said the company hopes to release more roles soon, the Dublin office is starting small with nine available jobs across several departments.
According to Kwon, the Dublin office won’t serve as the company’s European headquarters and won’t have an executive managing it just yet.
One of several American IT firms to locate in Dublin is OpenAI. Ireland is an excellent area to engage with Europe from a regulatory and business development angle, according to Kwon, in addition to having access to a talent pool that is already familiar with the corporate cultures of organisations like Meta and Google.
OpenAI’s ChatGPT is the second fastest-growing app in history after’s Meta’s Threads app shattered the record by accumulating 100 million signups in less than a week.
