Access Holdings Plc has newly appointed a Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Bolaji Agbede.
This appointment was made after the previous CEO, Herbert Wigwe died on Friday in a helicopter accident in California, United States, US.
Here are 10 things to know about Ms. Agbede:
1. Ms. Bolaji Agbede has over 27 years of experience in the financial services sector as a seasoned banker and business consultant. In charge of Business Support, she is the most senior founding Executive Director of Access Holdings Plc.
2. Ms. Agbede graduated from the University of Lagos in 1990 with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and statistics. She also holds a master’s degree in business administration from Cranfield University in the United Kingdom (2002).
3. She is a member of the Nigerian Chartered Institute of Personnel Management as well as the UK’s Chartered Institute of Management.
4. Her association with Access Bank Plc began in 2003, where she held various managerial positions and eventually became the Bank’s Head, Group Human Resources between 2010 and 2022.
5. She made a name for herself as a mergers and acquisitions specialist after contributing significantly to the smooth integration of bank employees in the wake of three of the most successful M&As in the history of the Nigerian financial industry.
6. She spearheaded the successful integration of Capital Bank and Marina International Bank staff in 2005, marking the start of her groundbreaking path.
7. She also played a crucial role in Access Bank’s acquisition of Intercontinental Bank Plc in 2012 and again oversaw employee integration after Access Bank Plc and Diamond Bank Plc successfully merged in 2019.
8. She started her career as a graduate trainee in 1992 at Guaranty Trust Bank, where she rose through the ranks to become a manager by 2001.
9. Ms. Agbede became the CEO of a business consultancy company, JKG Limited, in 2023.
10. She has participated in a number of esteemed leadership and professional development programs, including the London Business School’s Strategic Talent Management Program and the IMD’s High-Performance Leadership Program, both in Switzerland.
