Bode Abifarin has stepped down from her role as the chief operating officer at Flutterwave. Olugbenga Agboola, the founder and CEO of Flutterwave, expresses his appreciation, stating, “With a sense of joy, pride, and a touch of wistfulness—we say farewell to an incredible force.”
Having served over 15 years at KPMG Nigeria, Abifarin joined the fintech startup as COO in 2018. Throughout her tenure, she played a crucial role in Flutterwave’s journey, witnessing its ascent to unicorn status despite the challenges and controversies the company faced in 2022.
Abifarin has chosen to leave her position to pursue her passion for “teaching, inspiring, and nurturing the next generation of global businesses.” In her own words, she expressed, “In this next phase, I will be sharing a lot more using my voice and my pen. I will continue to nurture new businesses and focus on building, teaching, and education. There are a lot more things in the pipeline, and I’ll inform you as we go.”
Her recent addition to the board of Women in Tech® Nigeria is evident on her LinkedIn profile. Agboola emphasizes that it’s not a farewell but a send-off for Abifarin to achieve great things. The hope is to collaborate with her again in the future and witness the significant impact she will undoubtedly continue to make.
Abifarin’s resignation follows the departure of Flutterwave’s former CFO, Oneal Bhambani, who left the company in November after only 18 months in the role.
