Members of the Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria on Tuesday protested against the unprovoked termination” of the appointment of 34 aviation workers by the operators of the airport terminal, the B-Courtney Aviation Services Limited.

According to Channels, the protesting workers blocked the entrance gates of the Murtala Mohammed Airport 2 Terminal in Lagos in protest against the decision of the authority.

It was also gathered that the protest forced airlines like Ibom Air and Air Peace from operating within the airport terminal to stop flight operations.

Ibom Air was reported to have issued a circular to its passengers that the protest would impact the airline operations.

“We greatly regret the impact of this unexpected action on your day’s plans as we urge you to kindly stay close to all our communication channels for subsequent updates,” the airline said.

The Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, and Women Leader of the ATSSSAN Branch were among those who were disengaged because they allegedly demanded “the payment of terminal benefits to staff employees who quit the service of the company lawfully in accordance with the agreed Conditions of Service.”
