Apple on Thursday rolled out VisionOS 1.1, featuring significant enhancements to user personas. The update focuses on refining the representation of hair and makeup, neck and mouth features, and eye rendering within EyeSight, which enables others to see the user’s eyes while wearing the headset.
A notable addition allows users to set up their personas hands-free by navigating to Settings>Persona and selecting the “Hands-free Capture” mode after the initial setup steps.
VisionOS 1.1 introduces Mobile Device Management (MDM), catering to enterprises seeking efficient device management. This empowers administrators to configure devices according to custom requirements, deploy apps on a large scale, and remotely erase devices, providing comprehensive control.
Apple had previously announced its commitment to supporting enterprise device management, recognizing the need for businesses to manage Apple Vision Pro devices at scale. Jeremy Butcher, worldwide product marketing for enterprise at Apple, emphasized the importance of device management for unleashing the full potential of Apple Vision Pro.
Beyond these key features, VisionOS 1.1 brings several other improvements for users, including the ability to delete system apps from the Home View, enhancements to discovering and connecting to a Mac with Mac Virtual Display, improved virtual keyboard for enhanced text input accuracy, and updated closed caption controls when viewing Apple Immersive video.
The growth of the VisionOS platform is evident, with an expanding ecosystem of native apps. Currently, there are over 1,000 native apps available on the App Store for VisionOS, reflecting the platform’s evolution and developer support.
