Apple during its iPad-focused event unveiled an updated version of its Magic Keyboard, the keyboard accessory for iPad, promising a sleeker and more versatile design.
Described as “completely redesigned,” the new Magic Keyboard boasts a thinner and lighter profile compared to its predecessor. It now incorporates a function row for convenient access to controls such as screen brightness, volume adjustment, and play/pause.
Additionally, Apple has added aluminum palm rests and a larger trackpad to enhance user experience. The keyboard is also said to be more responsive, featuring haptic feedback and a USB-C port for charging.
This marks the first major overhaul of the Magic Keyboard since its debut in 2020, bringing it in line with the feature set of its counterpart, the Magic Keyboard Folio.
Available in two sizes to fit the 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pro models, the new Magic Keyboard comes in black and white color options.
Customers can pre-order it today at the same price as the previous generation, starting at $299 for the 11-inch version and $349 for the 13-inch model. It is set to hit stores next week.
In addition to the Magic Keyboard, Apple introduced a new Smart Folio for the iPad Air. This magnetic attachment supports multiple viewing angles, offering users greater flexibility. The Smart Folio comes in charcoal gray, light violet, denim, and sage color variants, priced at $79 for the 11-inch iPad Air version and $99 for the 13-inch model.
Other notable announcements from the event include the unveiling of a new iPad Air featuring an M2 chip, a first-ever 13-inch size, and a new iPad Pro equipped with a completely new M4 chip and stacked OLED screens for a higher-fidelity display. Additionally, Apple introduced a Pro version of the Apple Pencil with new sensors and an updated version of the Magic Keyboard.
