Apple Inc. plans to introduce Apple Intelligence, a guest mode, and a spatial content app to the Vision Pro headset as part of the visionOS 2.4 update, expected as early as April, according to sources familiar with the matter.
Apple Intelligence on the Vision Pro will include Writing Tools, Genmojis, and the Image Playground app, marking the first expansion of Apple’s AI tools beyond the iPhone, iPad, and Mac. With its M2 chip and 16GB of memory, the headset can handle on-device AI processing.
Apple’s move to bring Apple Intelligence to the Vision Pro comes as Google introduces Android XR, a mixed-reality OS with deep integration of its Gemini AI platform.
The first devices running Google’s OS, including a Samsung headset resembling the Vision Pro, are set to launch later this year.
An Apple spokesperson declined to comment.
It was first reported in June that Apple Intelligence was being developed for the Vision Pro.
About a year after launching the Vision Pro, Apple is adding new software features to boost interest in the $3,500 device, which has seen limited sales.
The company is also reevaluating its mixed-reality strategy, recently canceling plans for AR glasses that would connect to a Mac, according to Bloomberg News.
While media for the headset has been limited, the app aims to generate interest in spatial media and encourage more use of the device.
