Apple is introducing Roadside Assistance via satellite for the iPhone 15 in collaboration with the American Automobile Association.

Roadside Assistance through satellite enables iPhone 15 and iPhone 14 users to text a AAA operator even in areas where they don’t have a cell signal, building on the Emergency SOS and Find My via satellite features introduced with the iPhone 14 and more recent Apple Watch models.

Users can share their information with a roadside assistance provider by connecting to a satellite with the use of the new Roadside Assistance interface.

Then, the service provider will send them a direct message and send aid with the appropriate tools utilising the user’s GPS position and other information.

Satellite-based data and text connectivity provided by companies like Lynk and T-Mobile through Starlink are different from roadside assistance via satellite, Emergency SOS via satellite, and Find My via satellite.

In order to build the satellite network and ground stations that support Emergency SOS, Find My via satellite, and now Roadside Assistance, Apple donated $450 million through its Advanced Manufacturing Fund.

Apple Roadside Assistance is available in 14 countries, and counting, however, International customers who buy iPhones in Hong Kong, Macau, or mainland China are unable to use Emergency SOS and Find My via satellite.
