Apple Inc. has cut dozens of sales jobs as it restructures its teams serving enterprise, education, and government clients.
This was disclosed in a statement by Apple on Monday, according to Bloomberg, citing sources familiar with the matter.
The layoffs, which affected employees across multiple sales divisions, were communicated over the past two weeks, according to the sources.
Some teams saw deeper reductions than others.
The eliminated roles included account managers handling large corporate, educational, and government accounts, as well as staff who ran Apple’s customer briefing centers used for high-level product demos and institutional meetings.
Apple confirmed the reorganization Monday but declined to disclose the exact number of positions affected.
The move is uncommon for the Cupertino-based company and reportedly caught many impacted workers off guard.
