Amazon on Tuesday announced that Bedrock, a service that offers a selection of generative AI models from Amazon and other partners via an API, is now generally available.
“Today’s announcement is a major milestone that puts generative AI at the fingertips of every business, from startups to enterprises, and every employee, from developers to data analysts.” Swami Sivasubramanian, VP of data and AI at AWS said.
AWS users may develop apps on top of generative AI models using Bedrock, which was introduced in early April. users can also customise these apps using their own private data.
Brands and developers can design AI “agents” that automatically carry out tasks like scheduling trips, managing merchandise, and processing insurance claims by utilising these models.
According to Amazon, Llama 2, a free and open-source large language model from Meta, will join models from AI21 Labs, Anthropic, Cohere, and Stability AI in the coming weeks.
Bedrock, according to Amazon, will be the first “fully managed generative AI service” to provide Llama 2.
Bedrock had a bumpy beginning. Bloomberg stated in May that the majority of cloud customers still lacked access six weeks after Amazon demonstrated the technology with an unusually hazy presser and only one testimonial.
Amazon is definitely trying to make ripples in the expanding and profitable industry for generative AI with Thursday’s announcements and its recent multibillion-dollar investment in AI firm Anthropic.
