Amazon on Wednesday unveiled a new set of generative AI tools to make the process of making product listings easier for merchants.
This new functionality, according to the retail giant, is intended to assist merchants in creating “captivating product descriptions, titles, and listing details.”
Additionally, AI will allow sellers to update their current product descriptions rather than having to start from scratch.
“With our new generative AI models, we can infer, improve, and enrich product knowledge at an unprecedented scale and with dramatic improvement in quality, performance, and efficiency” vice president of Amazon Selection and Catalog Systems, Robert Tekiela, said in a statement.
Amazon claims that its generative AI tools would reduce time for sellers and enable buyers to obtain more comprehensive product information, but there are some concerns that deploying generative AI models at such scale can produce false information that is not based on genuine data.
Amazon is not the only retailers are using generative AI to streamline the process of developing product listings.
Last week, eBay revealed the availability of a generative AI tool that could create product listings from images.
Shopify unveiled its own ChatGPT-like assistant for its e-commerce merchants earlier this summer. It is intended to comprehend and analyse questions or prompts relating to business decision-making and to generate content such as blog articles, campaign ideas, and customer emails, among other things.
