Adobe on Wednesday formally introduced the Photoshop web version for all users with premium plans
The web version, which spent nearly two years in beta testing, is now accessible and includes Firefly-powered AI features like generative fill and generative expand.
According to the platform, the web toolbar’s functions are built on workflows like duplicating an image or choosing an object. For novices, Photoshop on the web displays the tool names in their entirety rather than the tooltip description.
Even without a subscription, users can simply collaborate on files by sending links to a colleague, according to Adobe.
The company unveiled Firefly-powered capabilities in May, including generative expand, which enables you to enlarge an image and fill it with material in response to a prompt, and generative fill, which enables you to add or delete items while maintaining the context of an image.
These capabilities were initially restricted to the beta version of Adobe Photoshop. According to Adobe, the bulk of the web version’s functions are available in the online version, including the contextual taskbar, which offers additional tools and tasks based on the workflow. Patch, Pen, Smart Object Support, and Polygonal Lasso are still absent, though. Adobe stated that it is attempting to add these tools to Photoshop for the web.
Adobe disclosed that there are currently no plans to offer a free or freemium version of Photoshop online.
