The federal government authorized N117.721 billion in contracts for the ministries of petroleum resources and aviation yesterday.
LEADERSHIP NEWS reported that the state minister for petroleum resources, Chief Timipre Sylva revealed this to State House reporters during the federal executive council meeting that President Muhammadu Buhari presided over at the presidential villa in Abuja.
He claimed that N117 billion had been granted by the council for the building of the Oloibiri Oil Museum and Research Center in Bayelsa State.
He said that the project, which has been in the works since the early 1980s during the presidency of Shehu Shagari, would be one of the achievements of the Muhammadu Buhari administration.
“Council has accepted a contract for Messrs Julius Berger PLC to build the Oloibiri Oil Museum and Research Center for the sum of N117 billion, with a target completion date of 30 months, this project has been in the works for a very long time, according to Sylvia.
“President Shehu Shagari placed the first foundation stone for this project in the early 1980s. Therefore, this is a significant accomplishment that will likely leave a lasting legacy for Mr. President in the Niger Delta”.
