The chief executive of Italian energy company Claudio Descalzi, said on Saturday that Italian energy company and Libya’s National Oil Corporation have a gas production deal of $8 billion.
The National Oil Corporation in Libya, announced on Wednesday January 25 that it had reached a deal of $8-billion with ENI, Italian energy giant to develop offshore hydrocarbon sites.
NOC head Farhat Bengdara told Al-Masar, a Libyan news channel, on Wednesday that
“We have reached a deal with ENI to develop the oil and gas sector, by developing two offshore sites which together will be able to produce 850 million cubic feet of gas per day”
This deal was finally signed on Saturday against the backdrop of a trip to Tripoli made by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
Descalzi said at a news conference that the deal will involve solar energy and carbon capture projects.
According to NOC chairman, Farhat Bengdara, the deal will have a production capacity of about 800 million cubic feet of gas per day and would last for 25 years.
