Tesla introduced a more affordable Cybertruck model in the United States on Thursday and cut the price of its top-tier Cyberbeast edition as the electric vehicle maker works to boost demand for its pickups.
The new dual-motor all-wheel-drive Cybertruck is priced at $59,990, marking Tesla’s “most accessible” version yet, while the Cyberbeast now costs $99,990, down from $114,990.
Following the price cut, Tesla seems to be removing the “Luxe Package” from the Cybertruck, which offered Supervised Full Self-Driving and free Supercharger access.
The package was added last August when the company raised the truck’s price.
CEO Elon Musk positioned the Cybertruck as a futuristic rival to mainstream pickups from brands like Ford, but multiple recalls and quality issues have hampered sales and deterred buyers.
Tesla’s main electric-vehicle business, which still generates the bulk of the company’s revenue, has come under pressure as competitors launch newer, more affordable models.
Cuts to EV incentives and CEO Elon Musk’s far-right political statements have also turned some customers away.
