The Joint Health Sector Unions chapter at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, will resume work on Monday following the national body’s suspension of its 84-day strike.
The JOHESU UCH Chairman, Comrade Oladayo Olabampe, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria m in Ibadan on Saturday.
Olabampe explained that the decision to suspend the strike came after a conciliation meeting with the Federal Government on Thursday.
The JOHESU UCH chapter had been on strike since November 17, 2025, in compliance with the directive from the national body.
This action followed the Federal Government’s failure to address the union’s demands.
JOHESU had called for an upward adjustment of the Consolidated Health Salary Scale, similar to what was done for the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure on three occasions.
Olabampe stated that UCH members would return to duty after a congress scheduled very early on Monday morning.
“Our January salary was not paid due to the ‘no work, no pay’ policy.
“Meanwhile, the strike was suspended because a term of settlement was signed between JOHESU and the government.
“Part of the agreement is that the ‘no work, no pay’ circular should be withdrawn and January salary should be paid as soon as the strike has been suspended,” Olabampe said.
He commended all members for their steadfast participation in the strike.
“Thanks for being part of the success story; history will never forget your efforts.
“Raise your heads in pride, having been able to prove that without you, there is no UCH,” the JOHESU UCH Chairman said.
The nearly three-month strike severely disrupted activities and healthcare services at the hospital.
