Dangote Group has denied reports linking one of its trucks to a fatal accident in Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State.
At least eight people lost their lives on Wednesday when a truck crashed into shops near Adekunle Ajasin University.
In a statement on Thursday, the company clarified that the vehicle with registration number JJJ 365 XB does not belong to Dangote Group or any of its subsidiaries.
According to the firm, verified records showed the truck was owned by an independent logistics operator and was transporting crushed stones in repurposed sacks bearing different brand labels.
Dangote Group stated that all its trucks are distinctly branded, GPS-tracked, and operated by trained drivers under strict safety standards.
The company urged the public and media to verify information before linking it to accidents it is not involved in.
It also appealed to media organisations to refrain from using images of Dangote-branded trucks in reports about unrelated road incidents.
“Dangote Industries maintains a strict policy on fleet management and vehicle identification, ensuring that all its trucks are properly branded, tracked, and operated by trained personnel under rigorous safety and compliance standards.
“For clarity, all genuine Dangote trucks carry distinct company markings and fleet numbers, making them easily identifiable.
“While the company deeply sympathises with all those affected by the incident, it urges members of the public and the media to verify information before attributing ownership or involvement to Dangote Group,,” the statement reads.
