YouTube has agreed to pay $24.5 million to settle a lawsuit over the suspension of President Donald Trump’s account after the January 6, 2021, United States Capitol riots.
The settlement, filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, states it does not admit liability or fault by YouTube or related parties.
In mid-2021, Trump sued YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter after they suspended his accounts due to concerns about inciting violence.
Since Trump’s return to the White House in January 2025 after winning a second term in November 2024, tech companies have been resolving these disputes.
Meta, Facebook’s parent company, settled its lawsuit with Trump for $25 million in January, while X, formerly Twitter, settled its case for approximately $10 million in February.
The following month, Elon Musk’s X, formerly known as Twitter, reached a settlement in its Trump-related case for about $10 million.
