Ibom Air Passenger regains freedom, court dismisses case

NCAA issues warning after unruly Ibom Air passenger 'attacked' crew

An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday cleared Ms. Comfort Emmason of charges of unruly conduct and assaulting the crew of an Ibom Air flight from Uyo to Lagos.

Magistrate Olanrewaju Salami struck out the five-count charge after police prosecutors confirmed that Ibom Air had withdrawn the case.

She confirmed her release in an Instagram post on Wednesday, thanking friends, supporters, and well-wishers for standing by her throughout the ordeal.

She wrote, “Thank you so much for all the Prayers, Love, and support, I’ve been released from the Prison, but I’m still in pains due to how i was treated.

“I just need some rest and medical treatment before I give out my own version of the event. Thank you so much my Lovely Friends and Supporters. I really appreciate y’all from the button of my heart. God bless y’all.

“THANK YOU MY GREAT GOD!!!”

Earlier, the Federal Government and airline operators reached an agreement to lift the lifetime flight ban imposed on Ms. Emmason.

Aviation and Aerospace Development Minister, Festus Keyamo, announced on X that the decision followed consultations with industry stakeholders, appeals from concerned parties, and Emmason’s show of remorse.

The minister added that the Airline Operators of Nigeria backed the decision to lift the ban.

He also noted that Fuji music icon Wasiu Ayinde (KWAM 1) had his suspension cut to one month as part of a wider agreement between airlines and aviation authorities.
