Ikeja Electric has announced a planned 25-day power outage in parts of Lagos State to facilitate essential maintenance work by the Transmission Company of Nigeria.
The utility company shared the notice on its official social media platforms on Friday, informing customers of the scheduled disruptions.
The outage will occur daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, starting Monday, July 28, and running through Thursday, August 21, 2025.
“Please be informed that Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) will carry out scheduled maintenance on the Omotosho–Ikeja West 330kV transmission line from Monday, July 28 to Thursday, August 21, 2025,” the statement read.
“During this period, customers may experience intermittent power supply and load shedding across our network due to the planned TCN outage.”
The scheduled outage is to allow for the overhaul and upgrade of the Omotosho–Ikeja West 330kV transmission line, a critical component of Nigeria’s power grid.
This transmission corridor links the Omotosho Power Station in Ondo State to the Ikeja West substation, a major transmission hub in Lagos State.
Ikeja Electric has cautioned residents within its service areas to anticipate intermittent power supply and load management measures throughout the maintenance period.
These disruptions are expected to impact residential, commercial, and industrial users during daytime hours.
Although specific neighborhoods affected have not been disclosed, customers are advised to stay informed through Ikeja Electric’s official communication channels for updates on load rotation schedules and contingency plans.
The distribution company has encouraged customers to plan ahead for the affected hours and consider alternative power sources where necessary to minimize disruptions.
The announcement by Ikeja Electric came shortly after Eko Electricity Distribution Company issued a similar notice, disclosing a planned power outage by the Transmission Company of Nigeria across its network for approximately 24 days.
