Elon Musk back to 24/7 office work after X outage

Elon Musk blames 'Supervillain-Level' cyberattack for X outage

Elon Musk has disclosed he would be increasing his involvement across his companies after the restoration of the social media platform X’s widespread outage that affected tens of thousands of users, primarily in the United States.

According to the outage tracking website Downdetector.com, reports of access issues peaked at 8:51 a.m. ET, with over 25,800 incidents recorded. By midday, that figure had dropped to fewer than 650.

Users from several countries—including Germany, Spain, France, India, Canada, Australia, and the UK—also reported problems accessing the platform during the height of the disruption. X did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

In a post on X following the outage, Musk indicated: “Back to spending 24/7 at work and sleeping in conference/server/factory rooms. I must be super focused on X/xAI and Tesla, plus Starship launch next week, as we have critical technologies rolling out.”

Musk’s recent political activities have drawn attention, with the billionaire entrepreneur confirming plans to scale back political spending. After donating nearly \$300 million last year to support former President Donald Trump and other Republican candidates, Musk said Tuesday he would cut back on such contributions to refocus on his business interests amid investor unease.

His political stances have sparked protests in both the U.S. and Europe, particularly against Tesla. The electric carmaker reported its first decline in annual deliveries last year, with some attributing the drop to backlash over Musk’s affiliations and statements.

Investor concern over Musk’s time commitment to Tesla has also grown. In response, he recently pledged to limit his involvement with the Department of Government Efficiency—a Musk-led initiative aimed at cutting public sector costs—to just one or two days per week from May.

The outage and Musk’s subsequent statements have renewed scrutiny of his multitasking leadership style, as he attempts to juggle several high-stakes ventures including Tesla, X, xAI, and SpaceX.
