Power outage hits Lekki, Ajah as 12 feeders lose supply

Eko Electricity Distribution Plc has announced a power outage affecting parts of Lekki, Ajah and Ibeju-Lekki in Lagos State following a loss of electricity supply to about 12 feeders.

The affected feeders are Ibeju, Ajah Local 1, Medallion Data, Urban Prime, Main One, Maroko, Chevron, Oke-Ira, Ikate Express, Ilasan, NTDA 1 and Eleko.

This was disclosed in an update issued by EKEDP to its customers, following a loss of supply that also affected injection substations at VGC, Oke-Ira and Agungi.

The distribution company said it was working with the Transmission Company of Nigeria to restore the affected transformer and reconnect all impacted feeders.

EKEDP said the outage was caused by a fault disrupting electricity supply across the Lekki, Ajah and Ibeju-Lekki areas.

“The following feeders are currently out of supply: Ibeju, Ajah Local 1, Medallion Data, Urban Prime, Main One, Maroko, Chevron, Oke-Ira, Ikate Express, Ilasan, NTDA 1, Eleko,” it said.

The company added that the VGC, Oke-Ira and Agungi Injection Substations were also affected by the fault.

“We are working closely with our partner, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), to restore the affected transformer and reconnect all impacted feeders as quickly as possible,” it added.

EKEDP apologised to customers for the inconvenience caused by the outage, assuring them that further updates would be provided as efforts to restore supply continue.

electricity distribution company appealed to customers in the affected areas to remain patient as it continues efforts to restore electricity supply across Lekki, Ajah and Ibeju-Lekki.

Power outages have been reported across parts of the Lekki axis in recent times, amid reduced electricity supply and complaints from residents.

In a similar incident, EKEDP attributed a disruption affecting parts of Lagos, including Ibeju-Lekki, to a technical fault on key transmission lines outside its distribution network.
