Delta Air Lines has launched Fly Delta 7.0, a major update to its mobile app, introducing a suite of advanced features aimed at streamlining the travel experience.
The app, now available for iOS users with a phased rollout planned through the summer, offers enhanced self-service tools, real-time flight updates, improved loyalty program access, and new travel partner integrations, marking one of Delta’s most significant digital upgrades to date.
In a statement by Delta’s Senior Vice President and Chief Digital Officer, Eric Phillips, the revamped app is designed to provide customers with greater control, convenience, and personalization.
For iPhone users on iOS 16 and above, including iPhone 14 Pro models, Fly Delta 7.0 delivers real-time flight notifications directly to the lock screen and Dynamic Island.
These alerts cover critical updates such as pre-boarding, gate closures, and in-flight progress, starting three hours before departure.
Philip added that “from June 1, Diamond and Platinum Medallion Members can manage and redeem their Choice Benefits right from the app, simplifying how frequent flyers unlock their rewards.
“Elite members can now view and apply Global and Regional Upgrade Certificates during flight booking in the app, replicating functionality previously limited to Delta.com. Customers can now link their SkyMiles accounts with Uber directly in the Fly Delta app to earn miles on eligible rides to and from the airport, Uber Reserve, premium rides, and UberEats orders over $40. (US only; terms apply).
“To help navigate disruptions, Delta has improved its alert system to provide real-time, personalized updates during unexpected changes in travel plans. Coming soon, the app will alert customers about missing travel documentation and destination requirements, streamlining international trip planning.”
The app allows domestic customers to rebook on an earlier flight within 24 hours during disruptions, without waiting in line or contacting support. This feature applies to nonstop flights and final journey legs.
Phillips highlighted the company’s ongoing commitment to technology that enhances and simplifies the travel experience.
“We are continuously improving the Fly Delta app to make it the ultimate travel companion. Later this year, we’ll introduce Delta Concierge, an AI-powered tool that delivers human-like, personalized assistance across the journey,” he stated.
