ValueJet expands West African reach with new Lagos–Banjul route

ValueJet, a Nigerian airline, has announced it will begin direct flights from Lagos to Banjul, The Gambia, starting May 15, 2025.

This new route will enhance air connectivity between two vibrant West African hubs, supporting The Gambia’s expanding tourism sector and deepening economic and trade relations between both countries.

According to the airline, the new service will commence on Thursday, May 15, 2025. ValueJet flights to Banjul will depart Lagos at 9:00 PM on Thursdays and Sundays, arriving at 11:30 PM.

Return flights from Banjul are scheduled for Mondays and Fridays at 12:30 AM, arriving in Lagos by 5:00 AM.

The Managing Director/Accountable Manager of ValueJet, Omololu Majekodunmi, said, “The launch of our Lagos to Banjul flight is an important milestone in ValueJet’s vision to promote travel options and connectivity within West Africa. We are proud to play a part in bridging distances and fostering closer economic ties between the people and businesses of Nigeria, The Gambia, and beyond, and opening new opportunities for trade and tourism.”

Majekodunmi stated that the airline’s vision is to make travel across Africa more accessible and provide travelers with greater choices.

The introduction of the Lagos–Banjul route is expected to strengthen regional trade, drive tourism growth, and foster cultural ties between Nigeria and The Gambia.

This new route represents a significant milestone in ValueJet’s expansion strategy within West Africa, as the airline sets its sights on adding more destinations along the West African coast.
