Yahoo has reached an agreement to sell its long-standing technology news website, TechCrunch, to media investment firm Regent, the companies announced on Friday.

TechCrunch, a widely recognized platform covering global tech companies, startups, and entrepreneurs, was originally part of the media assets owned by Verizon Communications. In 2021, private equity firm Apollo Global Management acquired these assets for $5 billion and later rebranded them under the Yahoo name.

Regent has been expanding its presence in the tech media landscape, recently acquiring Foundry, the parent company of major technology publications such as PCWorld, Macworld, InfoWorld, CIO, and TechAdvisor.

The financial terms of the TechCrunch acquisition have not been disclosed, but the deal is expected to close in the coming weeks.

“We believe this next chapter under Regent can help maintain TechCrunch’s influence and support its continued growth,” Yahoo stated in a press release.

Yahoo continues to operate a range of news platforms, including Yahoo Finance, Yahoo Sports, and Engadget, alongside services such as Yahoo Mail and Yahoo Search.
