Social media platform X is increasing the price of its top-tier subscription service, Premium+, by 37.5%, bringing the monthly cost from ₦7,300 to ₦34,000.
This marks the largest price hike since Musk acquired the company in 2022.
The changes, effective December 21 for U.S. users, also apply to annual subscriptions, which rise from $168 to $229. Existing subscribers will retain their current rates until January 20, according to X.
International users face similar increases. In the European Union, Premium+ will cost €21, up from €16, while Canadian users will pay $29, up from $20. In the United States, it jumps to $22 and in Turkey, it went from ₺300 to ₺770.
X cited the need to “adjust” prices to support the platform’s user experience. Premium+ subscribers benefit from an ad-free experience and additional features, distinguishing it from the basic subscription tier, which remains at $3 per month.
