The Nigerian Communications Commission reported that internet subscribers in Nigeria reached 134.78 million in October 2024, marking an increase of 1.88 million compared to the 132.9 million subscribers in September 2024.
This growth reflects continued expansion in internet access and connectivity across the country.
In its industry report for October 2024 on Wed, the NCC revealed that out of the total 134.78 million internet subscribers, mobile GSM accounted for 134.27 million.
The remaining subscribers were categorized under fixed wired and VoIP services. This highlights the dominance of mobile internet usage in Nigeria’s telecom sector.
The NCC’s report indicated that all telecommunication companies saw a significant increase in internet subscriptions in October 2024, except for 9mobile in its subscriber base during the period under review.
In October 2024, MTN Nigeria’s internet subscribers increased by 1.13 million, reaching 69.52 million, up from 68.39 million in September.
Airtel followed, with its subscriber base rising by 678,219, from 44.79 million to 45.47 million.
The NCC’s industry data revealed that broadband penetration in Nigeria rose from 41.56% in September 2024 to 42.24% in October 2024.
