Iran’s crude exports to China have faced disruptions due to US sanctions targeting tankers, as reported by Vortexa Ltd.
This has put pressure on oil flows to Iran’s largest customer, China, amid the broader impact of these sanctions on the global oil trade.
According to a senior market analyst at Vortexa, Emma Li, some November cargoes remain undelivered after disruptions to several October shipments.
Vortexa also highlighted that at least 191 Very Large Crude Carriers are currently on the US sanctions list, further impacting Iran’s ability to deliver oil to its key customer, China.
“Recent US tanker sanctions have led to a slowdown in Iranian vessels calling at Shandong ports, as Chinese buyers increasingly require cargoes to be delivered on non-sanctioned vessels,” Li said.
The disruption in crude flows could hinder some independent Chinese refiners, who were recently granted additional import quotas, from fully utilizing their allowances.
These refiners may struggle to secure the necessary oil supplies due to the ongoing issues with Iranian crude shipments.
