Just six hours before the highly anticipated iPhone 16 launch event, Apple’s official store website has gone offline.
Visitors are currently met with a message stating: “Be right back. We’re making updates to the Apple Store. Check back soon.” This temporary outage comes as the tech giant prepares to unveil its latest products.
The downtime is accompanied by a sleek, blue, and pink Apple logo, matching the design featured in Apple’s invitation for today’s event, titled “It’s Glowtime.” The event is set to take place in Cupertino, California, at 10:00 AM PT (18:00 BST).
While Apple has yet to confirm specific details about new devices, tradition suggests that the iPhone 16 lineup will be revealed. Speculation points to four models: iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max, all available in various colors. This year’s models are expected to feature slightly larger displays, a first since the iPhone 12, and a new button on the right side that could appeal to selfie enthusiasts.
In terms of color options, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are rumored to come in shades of blue, green, white, black, and pink, while the Pro models may sport more subdued tones like white, black, gray, and bronze.
Apple is also rumored to be revealing other new products, including a special 10th-anniversary edition of the Apple Watch and possibly two new AirPods models.
Pre-orders for the iPhone 16 are expected to go live on Friday, September 13, with the first units likely shipping on Friday, September 20. The launch event will be streamed live on Apple’s website, YouTube, and the Apple TV app.
