Sealed original iPhone breaks record with $158000 auction

An unopened 4GB first-generation iPhone from 2007 has made waves in the auction world, shattering sales records and fetching an astounding $158,644.

The auction, held by LCG Auctions, saw intense bidding with 28 offers for the coveted device.

This particular iPhone model holds its value due to its limited production and rarity.

At the time of release, Apple focused on promoting the 8GB variant, leaving the 4GB version in short supply.

Its availability spanned only from June 29 to September 4, 2007, making it one of the scarcest iPhones to date.

The winning bidder not only secured an original factory-sealed iPhone but also received a unique item co-signed by members of the original Apple engineering team.

The pristine condition of the package, described as “virtually flawless,” adds to its allure.

This remarkable sale surpasses previous records for unopened iPhones. Earlier this year, a factory-sealed unit achieved $63,000, followed by a $54,904 sale in March.

Even an iPhone adorned with a “Lucky You” sticker commanded $40,000.

Valued at an impressive $158,644, this vintage iPhone’s price outshines the combined worth of four Tesla Model 3 cars, 264 M2 Mac minis, 99 units of the 1TB iPhone 14 Pro Max, and even the appraised value of a house.
