The Federal Government has negotiated an agreement with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) that will allow Nigerian passport holders to get visas for travel to the UAE beginning today, July 15, 2024

According to a monitored report from Channels TV, the Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, made the statement during a briefing with State House media following the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting in Abuja on Monday, July 15, 2024.

This development comes after the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo stated in June that the UAE would soon eliminate the visa ban on Nigerian visitors.

Keyamo reported that during President Bola Tinubu’s visit to the UAE in September 2023, President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan agreed to lift the visa prohibition, but that further steps were needed for execution.
