FG to provide free ICT training for youths – Youth minister

The Minister of Youth Development, Dr. Jamila Bio-Ibrahim, said that the government will work with American Tower Corporation Nigeria to provide free information and communications technology training to young people.

According to The Times, during a courtesy visit by ATC personnel and Public Affairs Manager for Africa, Mr. Ehize Ilozavbie, on Friday in Abuja, this statement was made.

Dr. Bio-Ibrahim went into detail about the ministry’s preparedness to collaborate with ATC to improve youth access to the services provided by the latter.

She went on to say that, “In line with President Bola Tinubu’s focus, the ministry’s main duty was to create an atmosphere that would allow youngsters to thrive and prepare them for the economy of the twenty-first century, further reiterating the President’s emphasis on the matter.”

“The organization runs more than 8000 communication towers around the country. He also mentioned that 98% of the organization’s buildings are powered by renewable energy sources,” says Ilozavbie.

He further emphasized that the group has trained at least 50,000 Nigerians for free at different locations all across the nation.

In order to teach secondary school girls ICT skills, he  presented the minister with a particular project of the group called “Girls in ICT.” Moreover, he mentioned that a number of participants in these program have been able to obtain employment abroad as a result of the skills they acquired.
