The X account of the Brazilian First Lady Rosangela “Janja” Silva was on Monday hacked which prompted authorities to launch an investigation into the breach.
“All appropriate measures are being taken,” the government said in a statement.
“Crimes, misogynistic speeches, hatred and intolerance on social media will not be tolerated.”
The authorities also requested the social network to freeze her profile.
The hacker had sent a number of messages on Janja’s account, including misogynistic remarks and taunts directed at President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and the first lady, however by Tuesday morning, the posts were deleted.
Brazil’s government announced that the federal police had begun looking into the situation, and the office of the solicitor general said that it had written to X, the company that used to be Twitter, asking them to suspend Janja’s account while keeping all of its data.
