An update to the social media site is causing frustration among Snapchat users once more. This time, it has to do with the formerly charming but now unsettling Bitmoji. Users were shocked last week when Snapchat’s cartoon avatars underwent a facelift as part of its efforts to further 3D-ify Bitmoji.
“The Bitmoji has evolved into something horrifying and unsettling snapchat needs to revise.” A user said.
“The new avatar style improves characteristics like hair texture, face shading and body proportions. Your Bitmoji can now have a bolder smile, a more astonished face when they’re surprised, and can express even the most subtle and nuanced emotions,” Spotify said
The inclusion of Snapchat’s My AI chatbot into users’ Chat feeds earlier this year angered Snapchat users.
In 2016, Snapchat added Bitmoji for the first time, and since then, the avatars have become a crucial part of the user interface. The fact that Bitmoji serves as Snapchat’s depiction of the self contributes significantly to the update’s unpopularity.
Like with every change to a social media network, users are missing Snapchat’s earlier iterations including the original Bitmoji, which hadn’t been around for very long.
