The Eko Electricity Distribution Company has provided assurance to its consumers regarding its preparedness to commence a large-scale metering effort for prepaid metres throughout its service network.
During a customer engagement event held in Lagos on Thursday, the Chief Executive Officer of EKEDC, Tinuade Sanda, expressed confidence in the company’s ability to install more than 50,000 prepaid metres by the conclusion of the current year.
According to Sanda, as conveyed by the Chief Commercial Officer, Mrs. Rekhiat Momoh, the company’s objective is to deploy more than 150,000 metres within the current year. Additionally, it was reported that a total of 475,000 clients have already been equipped with metres within the company’s network.
In response to the recently announced 40% hike in metre pricing, Sanda said that customers were in favour of the price increase because it reflected the nation’s current economic position.
She pointed out that despite recent difficulties, the company would soon begin installing metres thanks to the higher price.
“It is obvious that the customers are happy based on their responses at today’s customer consultative forum,” she added.
