Video streaming platform, Netflix will start the testing of a few games to make games playable on select TVs and laptops.
Mike Verdu, the organization’s vice president of games made this known in a blog post on Monday.
Starting on Monday, the company will launch a modest beta test for a restricted number of customers in Canada and the UK on select TVs, and in the coming weeks, it will be available on PCs and Macs via Netflix.com using supported browsers.
In November 2021, Netflix released its first mobile games, marking the beginning of the streaming service’s push into the gaming world.
The company’s titles are currently only accessible on Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android.
Initial testing will include the arcade game “Molehew’s Mining Adventure” and “Oxenfree” from Night School Studio, a Netflix gaming studio.
Users can access Netflix.com using a keyboard and mouse on PCs and Macs, and they can use their phones to play the games that are shown on TV.
According to Netflix, some Roku, Chromecast with Google TV, and Amazon Fire TV streaming media players as well as other devices will support games on TV.
In addition to the 16 games being created by its in-house gaming studios at the moment, the business had previously stated in March that it has a content slate of 40 additional games planned for release later this year and 70 more in production with partners.
