President Bola Tinubu has approved the formation of a Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, in keeping with his vow to remove all hurdles to economic growth in Nigeria.

AMBusiness reported that the president also approved the appointment of the Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader at PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Taiwo Oyedele, to lead the committee.

The committee’s primary objective is to enhance revenue collection efficiency, ensure transparent reporting, and promote the effective utilization of tax and other revenues to boost citizens’ tax morale, foster a healthy tax culture, and drive voluntary compliance.

1) Mr. Oyedele is the Thematic Lead for the Fiscal Policy & Planning Commission and the Chairman of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group’s West Africa Debt Management Roundtable.

2) He also chairs the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria’s Taxation & Fiscal Policy Faculty Board and is a member of the Nigerian Taxation Standards Board.

3) Oyedele is a member of Nigeria’s Ministerial Committee for the Implementation of the National Tax Policy.

4) He is a member of the Global Tax Forum and has previously served  as a member of the Global Governing Council of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
