Zenith Bank wins Nigeria’s best bank award

Zenith Bank Plc has emerged as the Best Bank in Nigeria in the Global Finance Best Banks Awards 2024 for the fourth time.

This was contained in a statement from the bank on Monday which revealed that the bank had been winning the award since 2019.

As Global Finance announced its 31st Annual Best Bank Awards Winners, Zenith Bank was recognised among other banks from 36 countries in Africa.

The editors of Global Finance, following extensive consultations with business finance executives, bankers, banking advisors, and analysts from around the world, chose winners.

According to the press release, factors that have been considered in selecting the largest banks include asset growth, profitability, geographical reach, strategy relationships, new business development, and innovation of products as well as opinions from equity analysts, credit rating analysts, and financial advisors.

In his remark, the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive of Zenith Bank, Dr Ebenezer Onyeagwu, said, “This award serves as a powerful affirmation of our resilience and tenacity despite headwinds and a very challenging macroeconomic environment.

“Indeed, it is a testament to our status as the leading financial institution in Nigeria, dedicated unwaveringly to delivering exceptional value to our stakeholders.”

In addition, he credited Zenith Bank Plc’s founder and Chairman, Jim Ovia for his extraordinary vision and pivotal role in the establishment of a strong and lasting institution.

He also praised the Board for its shrewd insight and exemplary leadership, the staff who stood firm in their commitment and unwavering dedication, as well as customers’ constant loyalty to that brand.

The Publisher and Editorial Director of Global Finance, Joseph Giarraputo, noted, “Banking has reached another watershed moment with the debut of generative artificial intelligence, which promises to rewrite the industry playbook. In this ever-changing environment, the Best Bank Awards recognise the financial institutions that offer the broadest range of services, long-term reliability, and technological innovation.”

Recall that Zenith Bank recently announced the appointment of Adaora Umeoji as the successor of Onyeagwu, whose tenure elapses at the end of May 2023.
