Chinese consumer electronics manufacturer, Xiaomi on Sunday launched its new AI-enhanced 14 Series smartphone for international markets, along with a range of wearable gadgets.
The Xiaomi 14 Ultra, developed in collaboration with German camera-maker Leica, boasts a quad-camera configuration, while its more compact counterpart, the Xiaomi 14, features a triple-camera setup, as detailed in Xiaomi’s statement.
These smartphones integrate sizable AI models into various applications, offering functionalities such as real-time transcriptions from conferences and an innovative feature allowing users to describe a photo, enabling the AI to locate it in their gallery.
In anticipation of the annual Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, where industry players showcase their latest offerings, tech and telecom companies are unveiling new products and features, capitalizing on the AI buzz to enhance business prospects. However, experts caution that generative AI may raise legal or ethical concerns.
Xiaomi, having secured the third position globally in smartphone market share last year, accounting for 12.5% of global shipments, follows Apple with 20.1% and Samsung with 19.4%, according to IDC.
In addition to the smartphones, Xiaomi introduced new wearable products on Sunday, including the Xiaomi Smart Band 8 Pro, Xiaomi Watch S3, and Xiaomi Watch 2, catering to sports, health, and wellness activities.
