X returns online after global outage

X to launch long-form video on smart TVs soon

X, the social media platform previously called Twitter, is back online following a worldwide outage.

The outage, which started Monday afternoon, disrupted both X’s mobile app and desktop site, preventing users worldwide from accessing the platform.

When trying to visit, users saw only a blank page featuring the X logo, with timelines and posts failing to load.

Outage monitoring site Down Detector reported that the issue was global, with users from multiple continents experiencing access problems.

Unlike many major tech companies that provide dedicated status pages during technical issues, X does not have such a system.

Updates about outages are usually shared directly on the platform by X or its owner, Elon Musk.

While neither X nor Musk have confirmed the cause of the outage, multiple users report that the service has now been restored.

The billionaire founder of Tesla Inc. bought the microblogging platform for $44 billion in 2022.

Musk said he acquired Twitter because he believes it is “important to the future of civilization to have a common digital town square, where a wide range of beliefs can be debated in a healthy manner, without resorting to violence.”
