Worldcoin reacts to Kenyan ban

Worldcoin has stated that the coming is working to resume operations in Kenya after a ban on the project by the Kenyan government.

The Kenya government on Wednesday suspended the activities of Worldcoin over security, privacy and data protection concerns.

Worldcoin said in a statement to TechCrunch that it using the “pause” to formulate better on-boarding procedures and measures to control the crowd turning up for iris scans, and “work[ing] with local officials to increase understanding of the privacy measures and commitments Worldcoin implements.”

Kenya’s Ministry of the Interior and National Administration recently put a halt to Worldcoin’s operations, including those of its local affiliates, due to concerns about the “authenticity and legality” of the company in the areas of security, financial services, and data protection.

According to reports, it is coordinating with the appropriate authorities to determine the security and protection of the information being gathered and how Worldcoin plans to use it.
