The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, stipulated that the newly appointed commissioners must serve a six-month probationary term before beginning their official duties.
Governor Yusuf stressed that his administration is capable of managing the tasks at hand and that failure, laziness, and negligence will not be tolerated by his administration.
The Governor, who presided over the inaugural meeting of the state executive council in the inner chamber of the Africa House government building, stressed that the purpose of the probationary period was to provide the Commissioners the means to deliver Kano from the agony of poor governance it had endured for eight years.
“I want to remind you that your appointment is on a six-month trial basis, after which a monitoring and assessment panel, led by me, will assess the ministries’ performance.
Governor Yusuf issued a warning: “Those who performed well will be commended, and those who underperform will be removed.”
He advised the Commissioners to be dedicated to their jobs and explained that their appointments were based on merit, professionalism, prior performances, and competence.
“Let me urge you all to sustain the tempo of loyalty, dedication, commitment to duty, and be honest in the discharge of your duties,” the Governor added.
As the voyage began, Governor Yusuf took the chance to thank the people of the state and reassure them that they will soon start to notice beneficial improvements that directly affected their lives.
The Governor gave the commissioners a mission to serve the people of Kano as a single unit because he believes they were the greatest team to save the state from the mismanagement of the just-concluded government and bring democracy’s benefits to every corner of the state.
